Postcard Poetry Project

I'm a bit late getting my 32 postcards out for August, but only 3 left to write. It's so good to write short, spontaneous poems that don't suffer from the interference of too much thought process. Received some great poems again this year, and made some new poet friends. Thanks everyone.

In the midst of postcard poetry

This will be my second year participating in August's Postcard Poetry Project. I already have my list of people to write to. Some I know; some I don't.
Here's an article about the project.

Books of poetry

I've provided the design for a series of books of poetry by students, mostly First Nations, who listened to stories from their Elders and then, under the guidance of poet Wendy Morton, turned the stories into poems. Coast Capital Savings provided generous funding to make these books happen, and permission to use their beautiful art on the covers was given (clockwise from upper left) by John Marston, Carey Newman, Angela Marston, and Luke Marston. The launch for Xe'Xe' is on June 11th. Looking forward to it.

Poetry, collage and tennis have taken over my spare time. The cycle of acquiring / getting rid of will continue, but undocumented. I've got 80 more books waiting in bags to go to Russell Books on Fort Street. I still love the thrill of the hunt in a thrift store and finding small things that I know a friend would love. For now, I'll leave the archives up.
